For me, July is a time of year for us to celebrate our Independence. It reminds me of the extreme sacrifice countless men and women have selflessly given to and for us and our country. It makes me feel so incredibly grateful for the supportive families these men and women leave behind to serve our country. I am so incredibly thankful for our past as a country and my past as an individual for it helps me further appreciate where we’ve come as a nation and as individuals. I am grateful for the relative peace we enjoy. My family can walk outside and freely go places, buy what we want, where we want and when we want. We have so many rights and privileges living in this great country. For it is in our past we can create our future. I am so thankful for the countless opportunities I have to create my own future.

Our perceptions create our reality. For it is in seeing and fully appreciating what we have today that creates opportunities tomorrow. It is in truly feeling the feelings of gratefulness we begin to feel we have enough… enough food, enough love, enough house, enough freedom to have, be and do anything our heart desires. The one thing I know for sure is that gratitude helps us fully embrace the present and this, in turn, opens up space to have more of what we want in the future.
