Media, News and Influencing Thoughts: How Our Inner World Creates Our Outer World

Our Inner World Creates Our Outer World! There are many ways I see this manifesting in my life and in our society. About five (5) years ago, I stopped watching my local evening news. Over the years, I’ve made exceptions to this rule. I watch specific consumer report or investigative specials grabbing my attention. The reason for this ‘boycott’ is this: consistent negative news.

Most people watch the news before going to bed. I choose to have positive thoughts and images just before I go to sleep. Would you want your last thoughts before closing your eyes at night to be that of a car accident, a murder, a robbery, job loss, rising gas prices or the like? Just thinking about this zaps my energy and brings me down. Since the most influential time for our subconscious mind to soak in information is just before going to sleep and while at sleep, it is wildly important that what we see, hear and feel during this time is intentional and in line with our values, beliefs and goals.

The media educates, informs, reports and… influences. Why is it we seem to be obsessed with negative news? If we didn’t watch the news, they would reinvent themselves to meet our needs. Why don’t we have a national news station dedicated to ONLY good news? There is a Good News Network newsletter with more than enough uplifting stories worthy for national news. I think the world would be a better place if we focused collectively on that which serves our highest good.

I believe we bring into our lives that which we focus on. What we focus on, in large part, is that which influences us. So, our Inner World Creates Our Outer World. Are you satisfied with your what fills your inner world? Does your internal chatter serve you?  If so, what strategies are you willing to share with others? If you are not happy with what fills your inner world, what will you do differently today to change this?

Please post your thoughts, strategies, questions and feedback here. I would love to hear from you.
