My story in this amazing collaboration is about what cancer taught me about self love. Enjoy!

When we don’t learn the lesson or receive the blessing in the experience, the “thing” often leaves the room, changes clothes, and comes back into our life posed as something else. In my case, it came back as the same thing…FOUR TIMES! I consider myself a quick learner, yet there was clearly something I was missing.

After my fourth and final cancer diagnosis, I wrote down my life vision. One of the things on my list was to find my divine male complement in physical form. I went on to write down that when I released the rest of the excess weight, I’d be ready for this relationship. The next thing I knew, something came over me, and my pen scratched that sentence out…and kept on scratching like my life depended on it.

In that moment, I knew that I was the same person I had been 85 pounds ago and would be the same person when I reached my ideal weight. I knew that I deserved to be in a relationship – whether it would be the next day, the next month, or the next year.

This doesn’t mean that I no longer want to gain complete restored health and fitness. It means that I accept myself exactly as I am, and I open myself up for infinite abundance in all life areas. It means that I feel love…self-love.

On the fourth try, cancer finally taught me to be my own best friend. It taught me to totally love and accept myself with all my stretch marks, scars, and wrinkles. It taught me to let go of caring what others think of me. It taught me to stop waiting for the “perfect” time to open that nice bottle of wine or wear that gorgeous outfit. It taught me that all the answers are within me and that self-love is the best love.

This time around, I’ve finally gotten the message! I now feel, believe, and know that I am perfect in all my imperfections. I am so grateful for my life experiences. They have served me well, and I know that my future is bright as I shine my beautiful light out into the world.
