How to harness the power of your mind in every area of life 

Learning how to truly harness the power of your mind within to be, do and have anything and everything in life takes consistent practice, courage, determination, self-love and TRUST. Here are 10 tips to help create a life you truly love and deserve…NOW.


Prayer and meditation


You may have heard the term ”If praying is talking to God then meditation is listening to God’s answer.” I think prayer and meditation are powerful ways to connect with God, ourselves and create what we want. Here’s the deal though, you’ve got to focus on the WHAT and leave the HOW to God/Source/Universe; whatever is true for you. Have you ever manifested something in your life and you got it in a way that was completely different than how you thought it would happen? That’s because while you were focused on the “what”, God was focused on the BEST way to bring it forth into your life. There have been numerous studies showing meditation increases happiness. There are many forms of meditation. There’s guided, music, mantra, walking, releasing/quieting the mind types of meditation. Find one that works for you and see what a difference this makes in your life. I wrote an article about various meditation resources you can read here.

Stay true to purpose


Aaaaahhhh. Ever gone through a week, month, year…decade or more and realized you weren’t living your life purpose? Do you know what you life purpose is? If so and if you aren’t living it, I strongly encourage you to confidently and courageously take passionate action towards your life’s work. If you don’t know your life purpose, there are lots of ways to help you get there. For purposes of this article, here are some questions to ask yourself:

  1. What do I enjoy doing that I’m also good at?
  2. What have I always wanted to try and haven’t yet?
  3. How do I want to put my unique blueprint in the world?  Remember, there are NO extra parts! YOU were born for a very special reason. Click To Tweet
  4. What do I want my legacy to be?
  5. How am I showing up for others BEFORE showing up for myself?

Focus on the positive


Gratitude is the foundation for developing our greatness and is key to living a life filled with passion, peace and joy. Have a daily habit of giving thanks for at least 3 things you are grateful for. You can do this silently, out loud or in writing. Whatever works for you! It will change your perspective and your life.

Look for the gift in every situation


I know it sounds cliche, but every situation we experience is here to teach us something. If you don’t learn the lesson the first time, the lesson will leave the room, change clothes and come right back in as something else until you figure it out. This is where the 2X4 is. Ever had a 2X4 hit you across the head (figuratively, of course)? Remember that tough times never last but tough people DO.

Follow through on inspired thoughts


Have you ever experienced a time when you thought of something ‘seemingly’ random and then someone else says something to you about it or you see something that reminds you of the message you received? That’s divine guidance. Follow it. Do it. That is moving more towards your passion and purpose. No, I’m not talking about cheesecake, either!?! When we get ‘goose bumps’ talking about an idea or telling a story, that’s also a sign. Learn to connect with Spirit and your higher self and you will learn these signs. Trust your internal guidance system and follow through on these inspired thoughts. What was the last inspired thought you had?

Look for ways to stretch in your life


Feel the fear and take action anyway! Seriously… You’ve GOT to say NO to the wrong things so you can make room for the right YES. Sometimes, you want to say no to something because you are scared (insert other limiting beliefs here). In these times, I want you to ask yourself whether you will be glad you did “it” afterwards. Will you expand your network, skills, talents, abilities and put you on a path for success? After reading Shonda Rhimes’ book “Say Yes to Your Life” I gained a whole new appreciation for the word YES and WHEN to say yes. You can read an article I wrote summarizing this idea here.

Move forward with confidence


Confidence is sexy. Love yourself enough to harness all the courage and confidence to move forward in life with passion, grace and ease. Oh, and confidence is sexy.

Acknowledge your wins


It is important to celebrate your wins and milestones along the way. There will be times when you’ll have a rough day, week, month, year. Particularly when you are going through a tough time, it’s super important to take stock of what has gone well for you. Years ago, when I had a rough couple of years and found it difficult to maintain my personal power, I created a “Success Jar” and every night before bed, I wrote down one thing that went well for me that day. Some days, it was something new I learned, ways others paid it forward for us, etc… Other days, my success was waking up! I’m serious:-) At the end of each week, I took out the pieces of paper and read through each thing that went well. Acknowledging my wins in this way helped me stay the course. I’ve continued this practice, however, I have one, big awesome self-love fest around New Year’s Eve and spend time in gratitude for all my wins; large and small. It’s a fabulous way to end the year and start anew.

Remember the Law of Attraction and trust it


Yes! Yes! Yes!  #TRUST2016 (my word/theme of the year) Remember that in every.single.moment you are attracting things to you. My question is, are you attracting what you WANT or are you getting more of what you DON’T WANT? I have a 5-step CLEAR System designed to help you attract more of what you do want and ditch the rest. It works! Sometimes, you fall short with the LOA because you stop before your big desire sprouts or you don’t believe and have faith that it is being made manifest for you right now. Quickly, here are my steps to manifesting:

  1. Clarity – get clear on what you DO want
  2. Love yourself – self love is important before you can truly manifest the big stuff
  3. Emotions – feel them.
  4. Action – take it!
  5. Receive – have faith and trust that you are receiving.

Release your dreams to God/Source


Yes, Yes and Yes. Remember, there is a difference between having influence versus control in any given situation. There are times where we don’t have control (gasp!) over things and we need to leave it up to God to figure out. One tip I share around this is everyday, when you create your ‘to-do’ list, write down what you are turning over to God to figure out. It’s powerful if you actually write something like: Today, I’m partnering with Spirit and turning over (insert issue you need resolved). Then, watch as the Master figures it out for you!
