Drop the rules intermission: 3 Ways To Attract Abundance

3 Ways To Attract Abundance

Money_Tandy_Elisala_Abundance

I recently wrote a guest post on how to attract abundance when you feel poor. I’ve received such great feedback on these tips and heard from others who are conflicted when feeling worried due to perceived lack, yet, know all will be okay. This results in mixed signals about what they are attracting. It’s not an overnight transformation. It’s the little, positive thoughts every minute of every day that makes a difference. Remember that you are creating your tomorrows today. Every moment…every thought counts. I recently read a blog post from

I’d like to share the guest post I wrote for Michele Scism’s Decisive Minds here:

Are you where you want to be financially? The real question is are you attracting all the abundance you deserve?  For most of us, whether we are business owners or have a career, there were times in life when we felt a lack of money.  I know I’m not alone out there, am I!?!

Several questions I get from clients are; how do I attract more money when I feel poor?  How can I shift from a scarcity mindset to an abundant one when my experience is the polar opposite?

Great questions! I’ve been there.  I know what it’s like to skip meals so your family has enough to eat. I understand the sinking feeling when you have a stack of bills in one hand and $10 to your name.  I know how it feels being a business owner and seemingly not have money to invest in yourself and tools you need to be successful.

Yet, here I am! Here are three proven ways to attract abundance when you feel poor. The key is shifting your mindset from ‘poor’ to ‘more than enough’ and the examples below will help you make the shift today.  These strategies worked for me and they work for countless others.

Attitude of gratitude

You may have heard being grateful for what you already have is one of the best ways to bring more things to be grateful for. I certainly believe this is true. Instead of worrying where money will come from to pay bills, take your bills and write ‘thank you’ across the top. Giving thanks for your bills may seem counterintuitive; yet, think of it this way.

Giving thanks for the product or service that bill provided shifts the mind from one of lack to that of appreciation. When paying bills, give thanks for the exact amount of money you just paid to be replenished back to you for further good.

Here’s the key: FEEL what it feels like to have money flowing to you easily and effortlessly. I once played a lottery ticket and won $10. I cried with joy for this $10. I played another lottery ticket and won $500. I bawled my eyes out.  You would have thought I won $100,000!

You are what you say you are

The words “I AM” are two of the most powerful words in the English language. Be extremely careful what you say following these words. I am healthy. I am sick. I am a money magnet. I am broke. I am having a record year in business. I am having trouble finding paying clients. Can you see the difference when saying these words?  If you catch yourself saying something that isn’t in alignment with who you really are, say, “cancel” and it helps trick your mind. If you have trouble taking the leap from lack to abundance, you can say things like, more and more, the right clients are coming to me now, or, everyday I make progress towards my goals. Restating things as if they are happening now while feeling it, believing it, and expecting it is paramount. Recite the same thing over and over as you go to sleep. Say it in the morning before your feet hit the ground. Put statements on your mirrors. Whatever it takes to make it a way of life.

Ask and you shall receive

When starting my business, I imagined all the right people and resources supporting me. I was bound and determined not to get another, dare I say it, J.O.B. I knew the time was now.  I needed a website. I needed marketing and branding help. I needed a lot of things!

I asked for website help and got it. I suddenly got a free ticket to an event that was paramount for my growth. I discovered outsourced companies charging very, very little money to get key things done.  Write a list of the people, places or things you need and start asking your networks for help. Need a larger network? Meet up groups are a great way to find niche specific experts. Ask for help and you’d be amazed at the support you receive.

Sometimes, I robbed Peter to pay Paul to invest in my business and myself. I did what I had to do.  Where there is a will there is a way. When there isn’t a way, break it down and make a way! Give thanks for what you have today, remember you are what you give attention to and support is always near.  2014 is your best year yet!

YOUR TURN: Which of these tips have you used or will you use? What other tips can you share about attracting abundance?

    Great article, Tandy!!!

This reminds me of one of my favorite quotes of all time:

“Prosperity is a way of living and thinking, and not just money or things. Poverty is a way of living and thinking, and not just a lack of money or things.” – Eric Butterworth

And here are some specific ideas and practices for tapping into gratitude:

Hi PJ, thank you so much for your inspirational comments. I couldn’t agree more! I’m glad this quote is here for everyone else to see. Gratitude and faith are truly the foundation for everything in my opinion. With gratitude, we have faith. With faith, we have gratitude. With both, we have endless possibility. Thanks for sharing the additional resources on grataitude.

    Hi Tandy,

It is so nice to meet you. I believe this is my first visit to your blog and you have some great information here. I used to be one of the negative thinkers and believers. I was/am grateful for what I have but I still had not learned that I was working against myself just by the words I had been using.

Example I only wrote 4 posts this month in January, instead of I DID write 4 posts in January that I have never done before.

You have to make yourself believe and live it.

    Have a great day, Monna

The thing that helped us feel like we have more than enough, most of the time, is laying it all out on paper. Even when you see a deficit you can say to yourself “Yes, I’m losing money, but look at what I’m managing to keep up with.” Of course, this only works once you’ve started to take steps to alleviate that deficit. Otherwise it should scare you into looking into how to fix it.

    Hi Tandy,

Whatever thoughts that come through your head become your reality. I know I used to be terrible at this. I would use words like “try”, or “maybe”. Used them all the time! I would use phrases like, “I will try to get to the gym tomorrow”. What that really means is that I’m not going. Same rules apply for just about everything else. Great post Tandy!

Hi Nate, thanks for bringing up the tricky words like ‘try’ or ‘maybe’. Looking back when I had the same habit, it all meant the same thing: I’m not doing it and I’m not taking any responsibility for it.

I came across your blog through the Ultimate Blog Challenge. So it was intentional. Your blog insights provided me with some oral nuggets that I can share with my own clients. Too often they are so hard on themselves for not taking the action they asked me to keep them accountable to. Now I know the smaller steps these specific clients can take to move them out of their mire and back onto their road for success. Thank you.
