Struggling to Reach Your Personal Goals?

Turn to Tech

Even though the start of every year is known for making resolutions, most of us still keep personal goals in our sights throughout the rest of the year, too. But just like with New Year’s resolutions, sometimes our best intentions just aren’t enough.

Have you wanted to make a positive change in your life, only to be set back by sub-par circumstances or other difficulties? We’ve all been there. But the good news is that there’s technology all around us that can inspire us and keep us on track, no matter what our specific personal goals are.

Embrace Wearable Health Devices

Wearable technology has been a big trend this year, but don’t count it out as a flash in the pan. The beauty of all types of wearable tech is that it’s intended to be convenient and provide a portable, easy way to help you accomplish a goal. The biggest market for such devices is in the health and wellness field.

Whether you have a goal of building muscle or losing a few pounds, you can invest in something like a FitBit that you’ll use hourly to track your progress. The FitBit specifically helps you gain insight into a variety of health-related factors, like the quantity and quality of your sleep, the number of steps you take each day and the calories you burn and can be integrated with nutrition tracking programs. All of this can be customized to help you reach your goals, literally one step at a time.

If you have a more specific fitness goal, like running your first marathon, there are even more nuanced devices out there to help you stay the course. The Garmin Forerunner 235, for instance, has received wide acclaim for its features tailored for runners. Not only does this wearable device track mileage, heart rate, pace and time, but it also offers audio prompts, smart notifications and social media sharing. If you have a nutrition or fitness goal you’re trying to reach, there’s almost certainly a piece of wearable technology that can help you get there.

Take a New Look at Your Smartphone

Now that smartphones are a part of our everyday lives, we sometimes end up using them in limited ways or overlooking their full functionality. The truth is that your mobile phone contains a lot of potential as your ally in the pursuit of your personal goals. Let’s say you’re trying to get better about managing your time and being more intentional when allocating the hours of each day. A phone like the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, for example, has built-in alarm functions and timers that you can use to keep track of your time.

Another way to use your phone to reach your goals is by taking advantage of the apps that are available. Are you eager to learn a new language, but haven’t found a convenient way to start? Try something like the free Duolingo app. You can spend your spare moments brushing up on foreign vocabulary or diving into verb conjugations in a fun and appealing way. This can bring you so much closer to mastering your goal.

What are your personal goals? If you’re feeling a little uninspired, take some time to sit by yourself and write down the positive life changes you’d like to start implementing right away. Then consider the different ways in which you can use today’s technology to get you on your way. You might be surprised by how much faster you get there, and how much more fun you have doing it.
