How is your car your lifeline? Well, it has to do with recharging batteries.  Sometimes when you go through difficult times, you may not want to do anything but lie down and cry by yourself or keep busy by working. Let’s face it, when going through a devastating life-changing experience, you feel like your whole world has changed. You may feel like you can’t breathe. You may feel like you want to give up.

When you are strong and have always been there for everyone else, NOW is the time for YOU. THIS is the time for you to recharge your batteries. Take time to reflect on what’s working and what’s not. I realize in a world where society is all about now, now, now it’s hard to combat the urge to do the opposite.

I encourage you to check out a previous article I wrote on learning how to pause for thoughtsbeliefsadditional perspectives and support on this topic.

Particularly in the United States, we tend to ignore the need for grieving. When someone dies, more often than not, I’ve heard from managers, when will you be back? We need you. If this isn’t the case, sometimes we feel compelled to get back to work as soon as possible.

Think about when you are going to have the opportunity to just be still… just be… In another blog post, I offer 9 questions to ponder during challenging days.

Perhaps this is a place for you to start your reflection journey.

Anytime of year is a good time to recharge your batteries. When was the last time you took time for yourself to refresh, reflect and recharge?  Please comment below! Your answer may encourage others…and reading other comments may encourage you.

Here’s to reflecting and recharging your batteries and helping your car last a long, long time,

My husband and I spent a weekend away in September recharging. We went to Put-in-Bay Island. I am hoping for another weekend getaway in March. Maybe a cabin in the woods this time.

That sounds wonderful Kirsten. Those weekend getaways are so important; especially for couples:-) A cabin in the woods sounds really nice and relaxing. Where do you live?

Last month my computer broke down. For three days, I recharged by reading a book and relaxing, freed from constant blogging and social networking. I really enjoyed my time although I couldn’t laze about forever.

Oh, wow, I was scared with the title. I thought you were going to recommend going out to drive when you are angry..whew HUGE sigh of relief! I love to take a stretch out in the sunshine to recharge..but it can be a challenge with a stretch of cloudy days…that’s when my daughter and I will turn on black and white movies…we love watching them together for a good laugh or cry and always feel great afterwards.
