5 Ways to Make 2016 Your Best Year Yet

5 Ways to Make 2016 Your Best Year Yet!

Here are 5 simple ways to make 2016 your absolute best year. I’d love to hear your feedback on what you are doing to make this year ahhmazing!

#1: Evaluate who you spend your time with. Do they lift you up or bring you down? The truth is sometimes we outgrow people. Some people are only supposed to be in our lives for a reason or a season and that’s okay. If there is anyone in your circle that brings you down, sucks your energy or takes, takes, takes, it’s time to reevaluate your relationship and gently and lovingly let them off your train. We are the sum of the 5 people we spend the most time with. Be sure you spend your most valuable asset (time) on that which lifts you up and is for your highest good!

#2: Declutter. A tidy desk and home is a tidy mind. A tidy mind is a more productive mind:-) Identify the clutter around your living and business space, the junk drawers, the piles of stuff on the end table, whatever it is for you… and schedule time to tidy up. Closets for me are an ongoing issue. For some reason, no matter how ‘organized’ I get, ‘stuff’ just happens to land in my closet. Whatever it is for you, clear it and clean it and see how much more creative and productive you get. It’s a great way to start anew.

#3: Create a word or theme of the year.  Last year, I created a word of the year that represented the year I wanted to experience. I chose the word connection. Boy what a year of connection it was! This year, my word and theme of the year is TRUST! #Trust2016. I want to bring more trust into my life. Trust in God. Trust in life and the process of life. Trust in myself and trust in others. I look forward to what the year brings around trust. I created a checklist for creating your Word/Theme of the Year and you can read that here.

#4: Plan your year and write down your goals. I’m HUGE on writing down goals. I wrote an article about writing goals and includes a 2016 goals worksheet. You can read that here.  Also, there is so much more to achieving goals than writing them down. I have a free gift for anyone interested in wanting to know the #1 reason people fail to achieve their goals and how you can use this to create your best.year.ever. Check out my “Create a Life You Love” guidebook here. I promise you the information in this guide has the power to transform your life.

#5: Start a gratitude or success jar.  Gratitude is the foundation for developing your greatness and is key to living your life with passion, peace, and joy. Click To Tweet  The more gratitude we feel, the more the universe brings for us to be grateful for. That’s the power of the universe and law of attraction in action. Years ago, I created a gratitude jar. Each month, I cut different colored paper based on the theme that month (any holidays) and my kids and I wrote something we were grateful for each day. At the end of the month, we had a family meeting and rotated reading these pieces of paper aloud. It was a great bonding experience and reinforced that we have so much for be grateful for. Now, I have a success jar. Every night, I write down something I am grateful for or something that went well for me that day and I throw it in the jar. At the end of the year, on New Year’s Eve, I have a self-love fest and enjoy reading all my notes. I send the year away with gratitude. I also like to text pictures of notes involving other people to these people and let them know how grateful I am for them. I also do an annual year end gratitude video thanking special people for being in my life that year. There is so much we can do around gratitude. I promise your life will be so much richer by having a regular gratitude practice such as a gratitude jar.

It’s your turn: What one thing are you doing differently this year to achieve the results you want? Which of these 5 tips resonate with you most and why? Please comment below!
