3 Ways to Strengthen Your Intuition

3 Ways to Strengthen Your Intuition

I continue being amazed at the incredible power of intuition. I’ve used intuition endless times throughout my life. Below are 3 Ways to Strengthen Your Intuition:

1. Learn to communicate with your soul

First and foremost, in order to be able to use your intuition, you must able to recognize it when it speaks to you. Intuition typically isn’t loud, screaming or demanding – it’s subtle and communicates in different ways for different people.

For example, you may receive visual messages, such as images that appear in quick flashes or visions that come across your mind like a movie screen. You might get a hunch or a thought. Alternatively, your intuition may speak to you in physical sensations, such as goose bumps, feelings in your gut or a feeling of relief.  You may receive intuitive messages through your emotions, such as feelings of uneasiness or confusion when your inner wisdom is steering you away from something – or feelings of euphoria and profound peace when you’re being guided down a path that will lead you to greater personal joy and abundance.

Sometimes intuition messages are simply a deep sense of knowing and certainty. If you’ve ever felt that you knew something to be true in the depths of your heart or soul, chances are it was a message from your intuition.

2. Get enough sleep

In order to have the capacity to truly hear your intuitive mind and achieve true life success, you must…I repeat, you MUST get enough sleep. How much is enough sleep? Most people need 6-8 hours of restful sleep; with 8 hours being the ideal. If you are sleep deprived, your brain isn’t able to function as designed. You aren’t able to hear the whispers of your soul or get the signs that may be trying to reach you. If you aren’t getting enough rest on a consistent basis, I encourage you to start by adding 1/2 hour to your sleep schedule. Then, add another 1/2 hour and so on until you feel completely rested every morning. I wrote an article with more information about sleep here.

3. Meditate

You may have heard of the saying that is prayer is talking to God, then meditation is listening to God’s answer.  In order to access your intuition, you need to deepen your connection to it – and meditation is an excellent tool for this. Regular meditation will help you clear your mind of distractions and teach you how to better recognize the subtle signs from within.

I recommend you set aside time each day to meditate on your own or use guided meditations. I wrote an article about meditation and various options you can read here.

It doesn’t have to be long – even 10 minutes a day will yield powerful results and will make it much easier for you to notice your intuition when it speaks to you through words, images, emotions, or physical sensations.

I recognize strengthening your intuition can be easier said than done. It takes time and experience to notice the signs when Spirit…that internal guidance system that is our intuition speaks to us and through us. I started getting intuitive signs (consciously, anyhow) since about 13 years of age. Something told me to check the clock on the classroom wall one day…3pm. When my mother picked me up from school that day, I learned that my uncle died that day…at 3pm. I’ve learned that when I have the exact same dream more than twice, it’s typically a premonition and I need to heed advice accordingly. One time, when my daughter, Amanda, was a young girl, I had a ‘feeling’ that someone was watching me and I need to turn around immediately. I was in my car going to the grocery store and was backing up out of the driveway when I turned around and saw Amanda standing on the street crying. Her father and I must have had a miscommunication. He thought it was okay for Amanda to come to the store with me. I wanted her to stay at home. Had I not looked back and saw Amanda, she could have stood there for who knows how long. Anything could have happened to her. She got in the car and came with me to the store. All was well! I’ve had countless experiences like this…some that have saved my life.

I’d love to hear from you. How does your intuition speak to you? What ways have you listened to your intuition and it proved helpful? Please share your experience below.
