3 Life Questions That Will Empower You To Live Your Purpose

Knowing your purpose and living it are two different things. Sometimes, we know why we are here. We know the difference we want to make in the world. We believe in our vision and mission. We feel energized by our purpose. Despite all of this, we don’t take passionate action to truly LIVE our purpose. Here are 3 questions that will empower you to live your purpose…starting TODAY!

LIVE

Are you truly living or are you going through the motions of life? How are you spending your time each day? How you spend your time says a lot about what you value.

Are you excited and want to jump out of bed each day because you are so focused on living your purpose every.single.day or are you pressing the snooze button wondering what you are going to do today and mumbling to yourself about why you should even get out of bed in the first place? The truth is at the end of our life, we are going to ask ourselves if we truly lived.  That definition is going to vary from person to person but the foundation of this question centers around whether you lived life all out, gave it your all and did what you LOVED doing.

LOVE

Do you love? Do you love yourself FIRST? No, this isn’t a trick question. Before you manifest all the people, experiences and circumstances to truly live your life full of passion and purpose, you MUST feel worthy. You must feel, know and believe that you deserve the very best in life. This comes down to whether or not you love yourself. The reason I asked if you love yourself first is because self-love is the best love and before you can contribute, love and give to others in a meaningful way, you’ve got to start with yourself. How are you demonstrating self-love? How are you loving others? Do you love with all of your heart? Our purpose is greater than ourselves. When we love ourselves FIRST, we can help lift up others as we fulfill our purpose.

LEAD

Are you leading a life you can be proud of? Are you leading a BALANCED life and experiencing true inner peace and joy? Are you leading your family, friends and community in a way you can be proud? Can those closest to  you be proud of the way you are leading and living your life? Would you be happy if your life were on the front page of the paper (or on national news – since the paper, you know, isn’t read like it used to be?)

At the end of our lives, we’re going to ask ourselves did we LIVE, did we LOVE and did we LEAD balance filled lives and create a legacy we can be proud of? If you KNOW your passion are aren’t living it yet, I hope this empowers you to take passionate action today and do at least one thing that will move you forward towards your purpose.

You are obviously doing your passion and helping others with your thoughts and words. How do you know what your passion is? I thought I knew, but I find it hard, to not get overwhelmed, with my new passion. Does this mean I haven’t found it?

Hi Cat, thanks for your kind words. Knowing your passion takes some contemplation about what you enjoy doing that you are also good at, what kind of difference you want to make in the world and a few other things. If you are overwhelmed with your new passion, it doesn’t mean that this isn’t your passion. It could mean that you are getting caught up with all the details of your ideas that it’s holding you back. The key thing is to take imperfect action. Small steps towards your passion and purpose is much more important than waiting until you have it “all” figured out. I invite you to participate in my upcoming free 5-day “Dare To Live Your Life Purpose” challenge starting September 26th. This will really help you flesh out your ideas and gain more clarity about everything, Cat. You can sign up here: http://bit.ly/D2LYLP

Lots of food for thought here Tandy. I especially like the idea of my life on the front page of the paper. Would it be interesting enough for others to read? I agree about loving myself first. This was probably the hardest lesson to grasp in my earlier years. Today I know I love myself. Only took 60 years!

I’m glad this resonated with you, Alene. I’m glad you love yourself. It matters less how long it took you than it does that you DO love yourself!

Great post, I made quite some detours before my business matched my purpose. The detours had more to do with what other people who has been in business longer thought I should be doing.
Loving yourself frees you to take risks.

LOL – I’m glad you have LEADING down, Kristen! I understand managing your daily life responsibilities of a busy teen and a boyfriend with issues. Just remember that you are only going to be able to take care of others when you have filled your own cup first. Eventually, putting others first will impact you in one way or another. Self-love is the best love and I’m sending you positive thoughts for lots of self care!

Beautifully written! Live, Love, Lead. . .truly a powerful combination when living out your passion. I like to think of it as having my insides match my outside. If they don’t, change is needed. If they do, then I know I’m on the right track.

Great article. Sometimes we just need to take a step back and see where God is leading us. Sometimes we just go along, but when we focus and follow and lead, then we live.

YES YES YES, Robin! Stepping back and seeing where God is leading us is powerfully important. Listening to our internal guidance system is KEY to living our lives with passion and joy.

I love the enumeration – live, love, lead. I can even add my name there – Lorii. Everything starts with L. Interestingly enough as I talk about love everyday as that is my niche. I try to live my life fully everyday. I devote some time on what makes me happy. It is just sometimes too tight to have a balance as an entrepreneur, we have some time constraints.

I love the FOUR L’s, Lorii. I agree that it can be hard to balance everything as an entrepreneur, yet ensuring all three happen on a consistent basis, is critical to creating a legacy we are proud of; that includes creating a business that lives way beyond us.

Three L;s to remember. Lots of GOOD ideas here. Along the same lines, I like this quote: “The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.” – Pablo Picasso

I so love your comment about how you spend your day says a lot about what you value. In my practice I work a lot with teaching clients to slow down and hear what they are saying to themselves all day long. What I find is the messages they feed themselves often comes from others, such as their mom, dad, spouse, etc. In this case, they do what other people value, and not what they value. When they are able to clear the other voices and find their own voice, they make choices that are empowering and live their own life! Thanks for a great blog!

Candess, thanks so much for your comments. You are spot on about hearing what our mind is saying to us every day. Our mindset creates EVERYTHING. It’s super important to have a clear line to your mindset and ensure what you ARE saying to yourself is for your highest good. That takes time, training and self-love. Here’s to exercising our VOICES!
